This program is often
bundled free with scanners. Although designed for home use, it can be used
effectively for teaching basic photo-manipulation skills if PhotoShop or
PaintShop Pro etc are not available. It has the advantage of being easy
to use. Apart from its technical limitations, its main disadvantage is that it
saves photos as .PDD or .PBD files [its own file type] not as
.JPEGS or more widely used formats. You can, however, export the photo as a
different file type [see step 6].
Step 1: Get Photo
- You have a choice of sources for acquiring the photo e.g. click on
Scanner and it will take you through the procedure for importing a
photo from your scanner [if one is installed!].
- If you want to work on a photo that you have already saved e.g. on a
floppy disk or on the hard drive, from the internet or a digital camera, click
on Open File and navigate to it.

Step 2: Rotate and
size

If your photo is upside-down,
this is where you rotate it |

Step 4: Repair

red eye caused by using flash close to the subject, this is the place to do
it!

HOT TIPS
- Don't forget to click on the Undo

Step 6: Save &
Send
If you click on Save, PhotoDeLuxe will save your photo as a .PDD or .PBD file that can only be
read by this program, so you will need to convert your photo to a more widely
used format such as .JPEG

Step 7: Print options
|
- You can print small multiple copies of your image on one page (ideal
for making cards to send or sell
- You can print standard photo sizes if you have photo quality paper for
your printer
- You can even print onto T-Shirt transfers for making T-Shirts
- Don't forget to check what your work looks like on the page by clicking
on Print Preview before you send it to the printer.
