These are traditional Aboriginal symbols that are used in many paintings. They can have several different meanings.

Read the list of meanings below and write the correct letter in the box by each symbol. Print your page.

F	person sitting, boomerang, clouds, windbreak
G	path, clouds, heavy rain
H	person lying down, spear, tracks
I	boomerang, ribs, rainbow
J	snake, water, lightning, worm

In your sketchbook, use some symbols to make your own story picture in earth colours. Fill the empty spaces with careful patterns of dots.
