The
backdrop of Ululu, or Ayers Rock, was painted in acrylic on canvas by
Leah Milner from La
Swap Sixth Form. Pupils visited Australia Dreaming, an exhibition at the
Commonwealth Institute in 2000 and I was inspired by work in the Hayward
Gallery exhibition Aratjara: Art of the First Australians, 1993.
Pupils made dot
paintings, decorated commemorative funerary poles, made papier-mâché masks and
animal pots, and sent digital postcards of themselves photographed against the
backdrop with aboriginal artefacts such as rain sticks and didgeridoos.
ICT suggestions Digital
postcards,
digital dot paintings, interactive
exercises,
internet research, multimedia
presentation, contextual
activities with an interactive whiteboard. |
