Adobe Photoshop 5: Cloning

The Rubber Stamp Tool

For cloning areas and making repeat patterns

[A] Clone

  1. Select the Rubber Stamp tool.
  2. On the Rubber Stamp Options Palette on the right select a mode and an opacity (you can experiment)
  3. Select Clone (aligned) from the drop-down menu to get a single repeat or Clone (non-aligned) to get multiple clones.
  4. Click the brushes tab and select a size
  5. Activate the layer you want to clone from by clicking on it.
  6. Select a source point for the cloning by ALT-clicking on the area you want to clone (if you choose a transparent area nothing will be cloned!). Check that you are on the right layer for the source.
  7. Activate the layer that you want to paint the clone on by clicking on it in the Layers palette or make a new layer: go to Layer > New > Layer.
  8. Drag the mouse to and fro over the spot where you want the clone to appear
