- Select
the object that you want to create a shadow for with the Magic Wand
tool
- Activate
the layer that it is on by clicking on it in the Layer palette
- Go
to Layer > Duplicate and name the new layer Image
- Double-click
the original layer and name it Shadow

- Select
the Move tool

- Check
that the Shadow layer is still active and drag the shadow down and to the
right in the image window
- Tick
the Preserve Transparency box for the Shadow layer
- Choose
a dark Foreground colour
- Go
to Edit > Fill and select Foreground Colour > 80 to
100% Opacity > Normal mode > OK
- Uncheck
the Preserve Transparency box
- Go
to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and enter a radius of 4 to 8
pixels > OK
- The
position of the shadow can be adjusted using the Move tool

When you have finished, don’t forget to flatten the image and save it as a
JPEG to compress file size: Layer > Flatten Image
