Adobe Photoshop 5: Effects

1. Open an image

  • Go to File > Open and navigate to your folder for scanned or saved photos; or go to File > Import to select your scanner source if you are scanning a new image.
  • This is the Photoshop 5 workspace

2. Crop

  • Choose the Crop Tool from the Marquee Tool pop out menu to crop unwanted areas of the photo by dragging a marquee over the area you want to keep.

  • Resize using the handles

  • Double click inside or press Enter to apply the change

3. Save

  • Go to File > Save As and give your work a name.
  • Save it as a Photoshop file until you have finished working on it [PSD].
  • You can save different versions of your work by choosing a different file name each time by going to Save As rather than just Save.

4. Filters

The easiest way to transform your photo is to experiment with the different filters.

Select Filter and try some out.

If you like the result save it with a new file name.

If you don’t like the effect, choose Edit > Undo or File > Revert to return to the last saved version.
