Photoshop 5: Text
Although
Photoshop
6 and 7 have really creative text effects
with the introduction of the Warp and Liquefy Tools, Photoshop
5 is
rather limited in what you can do to manipulate text.
1.
To
add text to your image select the Type tool
2. Click
where you want the text to appear
3. In
the pop up menu that appears, choose the font and specify a size. The colour
is determined by the foreground colour that you have selected.
4. If
your text is to be horizontally aligned:
- enter
the values for leading and spacing, plus a style and alignment for the
type
- type
the whole text in the Text box, pressing Enter for each separate line
- check
the Show Font and Size boxes at the bottom of the window if
you want to see how your text will appear on the image.
- Click
OK
|
TIP
Deselect
Size when working with very large font sizes, as the word may
not be visible in the Preview window
|
5. If
your text is to wrap around the image:
-
in the text box type only the first letter of the word or words you want
- click
OK
- repeat
this with each letter of the word(s) to place them on separate layers automatically
- select
each layer in turn and re-align individual letters using the Move
Tool
