Paint Shop Pro 7: Text Effects 5

Text on a Path

1.Open a new image 500 x 500 pixels, resolution 72 pixels per inch, background colour white, image type 16.7 million colour; or open an image that you have saved if you want to add text to it.

2.Set Foreground colour > black; Foreground Style > Paint; Background style > None

3. Select the Preset Shapes tool, then in the Tools Options Palette select the Ellipse from the Shape Type dropdown menu; finally, check both the Antialias and Create as vector boxes

4. Draw the ellipse on your image by holding down the left mouse button and dragging

TIP

For perfect circles or squares, hold Shift while dragging out the ellipse or rectangle

5. Set the Background Colour (for the Text); Foreground Style > None; Background Style > Paint

6. Select the Text Tool and move the pointer over the circle until the cursor changes to X A with a small semi-circle by the A, and click to open the Text Entry dialog box.

7. Enter your text as usual but make sure that the Create As > Floating Section box is checked > OK. Your text will follow the path of the shape you drew. If you need to adjust it use the Deformation Tool.

8. Finally, get rid of the shape by going to the Layer Palette (bottom right corner) and dragging the layer that the shape was drawn on (e.g. Layer 1 below) to the Waste Bin to delete it.
